Default hand brake on vr wagon

    Hi
I just got a vr wagon and the hand brake doesnt work

the cable is there from the adjuster back to the rear wheels, but i cant get right under it to have a good look

im guessing there is another cable that runs from the hand brake lever to the adjuster, does nayone have any pics of it or should i pull out the console and get to the hand brake lever that way

    cheers

Have a look underneath first - it's possible the cable has stretched. Easiest and safety way to look under is drive one wheel onto a gutter.

It's actually a steel rod that goes from the handbrake to the cables that go to the back brakes...the rod is threaded and it can be adjusted from there, however if you have no handbrake you will really need to remove the back discs/drums and make sure you have some brake shoe friction material left. Also to do a proper job you need to adjust the shoes at the rear drums first and then do a final adjust at the steel rod adjuster previously mentioned.
If you want to PM me your email address I can scan the instructions and send them to you.
ps...Toowoomba swap meet is on tomorrow so if you need the scans I probably can do them in the afternoon after I go to the swap
