!!battery light stays on with a whining sound??

hey guys
sometimes when i start my vr v6 the battery light stays on and whenever i rev it it makes a whining noise. then when the battery light turns off the whining noise goes away..
any1 know what this is?

Alternator is shagged. Try replacing it.

reg is sticking replace it, save the cost of an alternator

reg brushes are worn down, replace the reg!

check your charge rate whilst the light is on, mine was up around 18v new reg fixed it
