Default [Buick motor] Valley cover coolant leak

    hey all

as in the title, ive got a VR with the buick motor, i had a leak a while ago on the bypass hose so i fixed it and my system has built pressure again, but today i was just checking it over and ive now noticed ive got water leaking straight out of the valley cover bolts on the front of the motor, seems only the first 2 (the one below the thermostat and one under the alternator)

im yet to see if its just needing to be tightened, however with my history with toyota motors it makes me think that my valley cover gaskets bay be buggered and getting past the seals and therefor leaking thru the screw threads

am i on the right page here or is there other issues that can come up with these motors?

    cheers

I don't know what differences there are between the VR buicks and the VP buicks but I know the valley gaskets on the VPs are prone to developing leaks around the water channels.

You dont want to overtighten it either as I did this the first time I changed one and it damaged one of the thick rubber seals so I had to do it all again .

If the bolts are all at the right torque settings then I dare say the gaskets will need replacing.

Although mine didn't come with the TB gaskets but i just made my own.
