Default Fuel And Temperature Gauges Not Working Properly

    G'day,

I'm just after a bit of help with my VR executive. Sometimes when I turn on the ignition and start the engine, my fuel and temperature gauges don't move. Other times, they work fine. And sometimes they take over five minutes to start going up.

    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

Sounds like dry solder joints. there is a thread in here somewhere outlining how to fix it. Do a search and see what you come up with...

    Thanks for the replies.
I don't think it's due to sticky needles, because hitting the dash doesn't work and I was told by the previous owner that he tried doing what was in that guide as well and it didn't fix the problem for him.

It could be something else to do with the voltage regulator perhaps? Try swapping one over from another cluster perhaps.

you might also want to look at the flexiable circuit in the cluster, they tend to get old and crack.

Fuel and temp gauges require a stable voltage (5-9v) to work accurately, hence the voltage regulator which is shared by both gauges.
My guess is this is at fault.
