    Default VR Master Cylinder

Hey guys, my VR is in need of a new master cylinder.
Just wanting to know if its worthwhile fitting a second hand one, or just buy new?
Also, if i do go second hand, does the "donor" unit need to be from an ABS system or not?

Ive seen a few on Ebay at the moment and none of them mention ABS, i assume the VS master cylinders also fit VR?

    Thanks for the help.

Go the new one, safer, and it should last for years if you change the brake fluid every 12 months to keep it clean.

if your changing your master cylinder you should go for the vt upgrade, pretty sure i got a master cylinder/brake booster and a bracket to suit from markvr on here for a good price

go a vn vp s pac or vr vs v8 because they are a 1". Second hand should be fine. I have a 340,000km vn s pac master in mine and works well for the vt brakes.

Thanks Brett, i was thinking along the same lines.

Will i have to change anything else other than the master cylinder when upgrading to a VT type system? Ive been told its just the cylinder and not the booster at fault, just bought and fitted new front rotors and pads (rotors warped), rears are fine. Dont wanna have to go back out and buy new rotors or calipers etc. I dont really want over-the-top brakes as i dont thrash the car.

Chirpstr - same question as above, will i need to change anything else if i go with the 1" version?

I'm not sure about the VT upgrade and what exactly needs to be done,my VS still had all the original VS stuff on it.

Get a stock 1" anyway...if your going to replace it you should go one better, and for the same price you can't go wrong. It will bolt up perfectly fine btw.
