Hard to get reverse?

Hey,
I Have a s1 vs v6 manual commodore ute, sometimes it wont go into reverse, so i have to drive forward a little bit then try again, why is it doing this?

Also when i go to start it, if i put they key in and turn it the full way sometimes it dosent start (dosent even crank over, and cant hear the starter clicking) So i have to turn the key to acc, then crank it over while i can still hear the fuel pump..

not sure about the first one, but do you know if your getting spark when u try to start it?

not sure, but if i try to start it straight away or after too long i get nothing, but if i turn the key at the right moment it starts up flawlessly..

Try selecting 5th first then reverse...they all do it.

As to the starting issue, chances are that its the key reader around the barrel not making contact. Next time it does this make sure the red secuirity light isnt flashing... if it is, try pressing the unlock button on the key head... (it's either the key head battery or key not touching the reader...)

yer my thought was immobiliser or key reader, i dont have remote locking so im not sure that pressing the unlock button would do anything..
