Hey people,
I have an issue with my HSV VS ClubSport Series 2 this thing is driving me insane !
Car has been randomly cutting out on me for the last month ...
i don't know where to begin explaining this problem but the basics of it come down to your driving along and for no apparent reason the car just cuts out dead.. it will still crank over but not even attempt to start ... you sit and wait for like 10 - 60 mins the car will start again sometimes it will go 3 days without doing this other time it will do it 10 times a day...
I've replaced the coil & rotor button needed doing anyway just to rule that out .. i have fuel pressure spark at the plugs, if you spray start ya bastered down the thrott it will start and stop so this made me check the injectors which dont seem to have power opening and closing them, so this narrows it down to 2 things in my opinion... what ever controls the injectors or the thing that worries me the most, VS clupsports have this stupid dealer fitted hsv imobiliser which might be causing me grief ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE EXTREAMLY APPRECIATED !!!! Cheers, Drew

Normally I'd suggest the ignition module like THE STATESMAN, but as it's a lack of fuel that appears to be the problem I'd go with the aftermarket immobiliser.
Here is a link that might be similar:factory vs clubsport Immobiliser
also could it be a blocked fuel filter/fuel pump failing/fuel pressure regulator U/S.
yeah, we just swapped ignition modules with the one on my mates car zero difference ... i highly doubt it would be anything actually mechanical like fuel reg or blocked injectors ... its look more and more like this dumb ass HSV ISS ( intergrated Security System ) my guess is loose wire or dry solder joint ... thanks for the help people ... anymore suggestions ?
If there is spark at the plugs it cant be the Ignition module
Because there is a signal to the coil.
Getr the diagnostic on to it and see what code it gives out.
The PCM gives out the signal to the injectors to open and close.
There could be a communication problem between the KEY/BCM/PCM.
dont people usually blame problems like this on the crank angle sensor?
Hey mate i've been having the EXACT same problems your having in my 304 i changed everything, and in the end it came down to the hall effect sensor (crank angle) in the dizzy eventually the car just stopped and wouldnt start again, i got the whole dizzy replaced and the problem was fixed, took me 2 months of trial and error and a ****load of cash but this is worth a look in your case too mate might save you pulling your hair out like i did![]()
This one has got to be the hall effect, in the The VS's they have all been failing in the last year, it must be just time up old age etc around about now
When i got my dizzy replaced i was told there are 2 chips inside the dizzy, if one or either of them are shitting themselves or the hall effect it wouldn't send a signal for the injectors to do there thing. this is second hand info so i dont know the total truth to it but the mechanic that told me this is the one that fixed my car so he has to know something.
Yeah if you turn the motor the injectors pulse, if the dizzy is stuffed they wont. You should even be able to pull the dizzy out and spin it around and listen to them pulsing. My mates a Ford mechanic and that's how he tests for faults in the Ford 6
The hall effect sensor in the Dizzy sends a signal out to the Ignition module to amplify this signal
to the ignition coil so it can give spark out.
If this hall effect is not working there will be no spark.
First post here, been trawling the net for info on this and cant belive not much info on mechanical side of HSV driveline problems out there.
I got a VS Senator which died at 168000km inside the M5 yesterday. Its at the electricians now trying to get sorted. We put it down to dizzy also but unsur yet.
Does any one know with the fuse box above the battery just infront of it says LEVEL RIDE (i think) and has 3 fuse holders with 2x 10amp red spade fuses and 1x large silver hi amp fuse, are these for the level ride? If you pull them out what will happen-worse case?
Reason im asking is at the mechanics yesterday the Level Ride stopped working![]()
Car is running now with a coil change... I just changed the coil after new years day as the car died then. Apparently you need a genuine holden coil not the repco one I had.
Hall effect is still good at the moment. I had a slight miss at idle so hopefully this will fix it now.
Anyway see how long this 1 lasts, better be more than 40 days.
