    Default Key cutters?

where is the best place to get a key duplicated in adelaide? just the plain PN57 key blade (not the remote head).

I tried a few places, & best I could do was $20 for the blade or $25 for one with a plain plastic head (for a VN/P) which I suggested was a bit steep, as I only wanted the key blade copied, not the whole flamin' car...

a franchised kiosk (the national chain shall remain nameless) at the local shops wanted $35, but was 'happy to give me 10% off with one of these pamphlets'...

excuse the pun, but in my opinion, these prices are highway robbery when about 6 years ago I paid $5 for a copy.

I got a VS one cut (no remote) for $25.I just thought I had picked the dearest place in town to get it done.$20-$30 must be around the going rate.I also remember paying around $5 a few years back for a new key.

Or you could take some concrete and pay it. It's not 6 years ago. In my opinion, you'll waste more money in petrol trying to find a place that will cut it for you for $5 than you will if you just pay the $20. It's not like you get them cut all the time is it?

Sure, and you're right, looks like I'm going to have to pay the exorbitant cost- & be thankful the little guy will only charge me $20. but that isn't the point of the thread, I was looking for the proverbial 'secret sources' that some people seem to know about for various things.

Unfortunately because we lay down and take it, these places CAN get away with reaming Joe Public. It isn't 6 years ago, no, but there's a whole lot more of these things on the road now, so the price should in theory have come down (of course, taking inflation into account!).
