What to do when the bonnet release cable breaks?

G'Day all, How do you pop the bonnet when the release cable breaks? I have a VS Commodore Equipe, 96 model. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Geoff.

You can reach up underneath the front bar with some multigrips or some pliers and try find the cable running along to the bonnet release pin - if you can get it just yank it and it release the bonnet that way.

Otherwise the really really hard way is to use a long ass flat head screwdriver and unscrew the bolt that goes into the locking mechanism from the bonnet itself - this is pretty tricky though.

That method is no good if the cable is broken, unless the break is at the dash AND you can squeeze the cable hard enough to crimp the inner cable inside the outside bit.

If it's broken at the bonnet catch end, then you have to manipulate the mechanism with a very long screwdriver or as mentioned above, undo it.
