Hey all,
I've got a 97 VS Calais Series II V8 and the engine fuse keeps blowing every time I switch the ignition to the on position. I took it to an auto elec and they couldn't find anything wrong, they replaced the fuse and it worked. But next morning it blew again. Any ideas as to what's wrong?
Thanks
hey mate.. um recently takin any bits out of engine bay and painted them and bolted them in?? cos i did that in my old car and bolted it down over a wire.. and it was shorting out and blowing fuses all through my engine bay when i turned the key so??? thats my answer lol maybe??
check your wiring from battery that runs on top of the water pump and follow it through the alternator, my car died the other day on me and it was the wires on top of the alternator had cut and shredded and caused a fuse to blow.
heyy
my VR commodore is blowing engine fuses too. it starts, idles for 5 minutes max then it blows and cuts out.
we've tried replacing wires from the dfi module , replacing the alternator and alot of soldering wires that were dodgy.
a man suggested that it could be the computer , as i hav jump started a car when i shouldnt have.
any information would be really helpful, please and thanks. i would love to get my baby back on the road
tyra.
puttin out to much power mate
Check your earths on battery and body, even check your ecu connections are good.
Check your ignition relay which is in the relay housing assembly in the engine bay. Swap with one of the other equivalent size relays and see if that makes a difference.
Mine did same today, new oil pressure switch fixed it.
(not trying to drag up old posts, but may help someone in the future)
