Hi All
Ever since i lowered our VR sedan to 2 inches lower that standard, it has had a problem of wondering all over the road. It has Monroe GT shortened struts, Super-pro strut tops and bearings. It just seams that the slightest bit of rough road and it wonders every were.
Has any one else noticed this sort of thing with there lowered VR ?![]()
Did you get a wheel alignment after you changed the springs and shocks?
Did your get an adjustable panhard rod as well?
there's a reason the car has ground clearence! if the roads in aus were all of german, autobahn standards, by all means, have a really low car, but they're not!!!
stuff lowering the car....
i'd get emo everytime i take my baby on the great western or any other w.syd road!!!
my advice is, raise it to it's original specs and spend all your $ on the engine
it has new shocks, new springs and a adjustable panhard rod. yes it has had a wheel alignment

I would suggest the wheel align is out. Most likely a toe problem. ie excessive toe out.
From time to time wheel aligns come out worse than when they went in.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
do you have rims on it? because my vn when it is lowered around the same amount, and mine pulls and wonders around aswell, i cant let go of the wheel without it pulling hard toawrds bumps, and on the highway i can barely keep it straght, but im used to it now
If it's been lowered that much could it be something to do with the sway bar link rods? One of my friends mentioned something about his needing to be modified but I am not sure as I have never bothered to lower one of these cars as I am past all that at my age. Does lowering a car effect the way the link pins and rubbers sit at either end? I know when I had my VN the condition and tightness of these rubbers made a lot of difference, loose and the car wandered around and they squash down so your adjusting them until the thread runs out then replacing them. I bought a nolothane setup to try but sold the car before I fitted it.
providing the distance between the swaybar end and the link mount on the strut is the same between standard and aftermarket struts remains the same, there shouldn't be any difference to the way the link bushes sit.
to the OP, mine was wandering badly at highway speeds, turned out to be both the strut bearing and support. may not be your problem but i'd certainly look into them. also look at the z-bar bushes, tie rod ends etc. basically go over the whole front end with a fine tooth comb

my sway bar link rods are the s-shape ones with nolothane bushes. it has had the Radius rod bushes replaced and new strut bearings. It is on 18 inch rims with Falken tires. Can the support plates cause problems too ?
hows your panhard rod bushes??
Brand new nolothane bushes
only thing you can do is check all your other bushes and joints for play, i had every single bush in my ute replaced with nolothane ones and it was on pedders ultra low and that drove dead straight.
