Got a VR the motor died so had to do an engine change at short notice and the the only motor available to me at the time was a VP motor, my mechanic told me that the only major difference was the cam sensor and that he could put a washer in behind it, assured me he has done it before and it would be fine. Since then the engine has persistently misfired, since then we have tried brand new plugs, brand new leads and several ignition coils but no luck. We get the code no: 48 when testing the computer analysis.
If you reset the computer the car will not misfire until it has warmed up, and the only way to get rid of the misfire is to reset the computer and allow the car to cool. But when the car returns to operating temperature the misfire returns. I have also had another mechanic tell me the only way to resolve the issue is to replace the VP timing case and cam pulley with the equivalent VR parts.
Any help would be appreciated.
