    Default Should I Swap?

I've got a 95 vs acclaim v6 in very good condition with a few minor mods i've been trying to sell since Christmas for $4500 with rwc but have had no interest so i found a vs 5 ltr a guys been trying to sell for a while but has had no luck so i asked if he wanted to swap and he said ok.
I thort this was a pretty good deal since its got 50k less k's than mine and its a v8,
he has now told me that it keeps over heating unless you have the heater on, so i had a think about it and saw that he also has a set of 18's that he wasn't going to sell with the car, so i made him an offer, my car will come with a roady and his will come as is with the 17's that are on it and chuck in the 18's as well because its overheating and he said ok.

Just wanting to know what people think? does it sound like a good swap for me or am i getting ripped?

I know swapping for something with a problem is a risk but as long as it's not to serious i'm hoping the rims will cover it.

    Thanks

it would be a no brainer for me.. Take the 5.0!!

Could be as simple as the clutch in the fan is stuffed.. shouldnt think it will be to serious a problem if putting the heater on is enough to cool it down.

Seems to good to be true. A 3.8L V6, direct swap for a 5.0L V8 with less km's?

Get the car looked at by an independant mechanic, i certainly wouldn't swap ANY 5.0L for an Ecotec V6 no matter what it was. Sounds sketchy to me. He could be selling you one big headache.

I reckon it sounds a bit too good to be true as well - if it was an easy fix the seller would have done that. Overheating problems are rarely cheap - he could have cooked the engine, warped the heads and thrown a few cans of stop-leak in to mask the problem (temporarily). But then again, you never know your luck in a big city.

Sometimes you get lucky. I just got a whole Commy for $250 which I was going to get for parts, because the guy said he thought its head gasket was gone. ( he also had a new ute he was paying off and couldnt afford to pay that and throw $ at the commy). Got my mechanic mate to come look at it and it was only that bung thing on the front of the motor had broken and was leaking out causing the over heating. So I bought it and have spent $50 on parts and coolant and it runs fine. I gathered the recon auto in it was worth the $250 spend on its own.
