hey guys,
ive just done a compresion test on my vr v6. 1,2,3,and 4 cylenders read 145 psi. and 5 and 6 read 150,
is this a problem?
also it seems to be missing on cylender two(we think its cylender two becuase we disconected theinjector and it didnt make a differences) , its getting spark
seams to be getting fuel aswel?
and if posible would some one be able to tell me the fireing order.
cheers, Jase
The minimum PSI for that engine is around 100 PSI or 690 kpa and should have a pressure difference between cylinders of no more than 30%. Yours sounds like its ok.The firing order is 165432.
Id be checking the 3 coils, these are known for causing misfiring, they break down under load.Ive seen them show to be ok when tested with a multimeter and still cause misfiring.Borrow a coil from an engine that is running ok,and try it in each of the 3 places where yours are.The cylinder numbers on them dont matter, the coils are all the same.

Thanks for that.
is there anything in the line before the coils that could cause a misfire?
The engine wiring is a bit dodgey, the engien was planted in the toyota surf before i braught it.
Cheers jase
Check the IAC in the throttle body to see if its 'gunked-up'.
This will cause the car to behave poorly.
Check to see if the vacuum hoses to the MAP sensor are in good condition, this hose was causing a bloke at works V6 gemini to sound like it was missing, runs fine now.
