Hey guys i have a vr v6 im rebuilding for my datsun racecar, ive looked arround for engine rebuild kits but cant find any anywhere.
ive asked arround at the local performance shops and mechanics etc etc the just give me a quote on how much they can do it for.
ive searched the internet and found nothing.
the engine is ripped right apart (except camshaft).
any light on this would be grate,
cheers Jase
Order an 'ACL race-series' rebuild kit through Rocket industries.
---If you want to spend some serious coin you could get a stroker kit through COME, or Pro-stroke
those kits look really good! might get one for my rebuild![]()
Cheers neet wagon.
okey theres 7 differnt option, what one would best suit me, im not boring out the cylenders?.
Also adding a turbo and running it on about 10 psi
***ECOTEC or VN-VR V6 4.2 Stroker kits...BOOST application kits with the absolute strongest parts available anywhere for the Holden V6 engines. These balanced kits feature our 4340 steel billet stroker cranks, our 4340 steel "H" beam rods with ARP2000 series bolts and either Wiseco or Diamond Racing custom forged pistons, moly rings, rod and main bearings all for $5000.00 (same kit with cast crank for $4000.00) Get that V6 ready for the track with V8 humbling power and reliability.***
^^^^ I would suggest either going with this or getting yourself a 'RAC9380CBB2' ACL rebuild kit, however i am unsure as to whether the ACL kit can come with low-compression pistons as its compression ratio is 9.9:1.
Just as an aside, i will be getting the COME kit for my own seriesII race motor (boosted) in the future.
It is without a doubt the best way to get a strong reliable V6 bottom end for a seriesI or II buick.
I know people are going to say 'what about ZZP in the states'? well I have spoken with them and they in no way stock/ or make anything for the pre-ecotec motors.
So sadly, I have to look elsewhere for a set of r-spec alloy heads.......
thanks neet wagon.
im not looking at going all out on a stroker kit, the car ways next to nothing without the engine in, so doesnt need a hole bunch of power. cars getting completely rabuilt at the moment.
Is there a wright up on your rebuild?
cheers Jase
Theres a thread, but theres not much in it!
Gotta donate so i can add some more pics to it!
I might go edit it now....
a guide for a rebuild would be really good. id like to rebuild my engine, but its unpractical as it's my only car. so i'd be more likely to rebuild and ecotec or an ls1 (or another buick) and put that in when its ready.
