Hi, got a vr sedan v6, car idles fine but when driving will stutter and lose power when accelerating have changed plugs, leads, coils, fuel fitler to no avail seems to get better with every fix but problem returns soon after.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Welcome to the forum.
You could have any number of problems but the first thing I would ask is whether you need to top up the coolant.....if so you may have a inlet manifold leak which is somewhat common and can cause coolant leakage plus leak air into the combustion chambers give a 'hard to get rid of' miss.
Also do a codes test: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
How is the air filter, throttle body etc...any vacuum leaks?
I just had a similar issue with my VR V6 engine.
Mine was overheting after 5 minutes of city driving, idling fine, but misifring up to 2000 RPM then all was good, except the overheating.
It was real down on vacuum, so it was either a manifold gasket, head gasket or burnt valve. I swapped the engine and when I get time, will pull the heads off.
If you are getting overheating in stop-go traffic, then I suggest a compression and vac test and go from there.
