hey all ive jus found out my rear main seals leaking, jus wondering if anyone knows where i could get it fixed cheapish?? its for a 95 vs wagon, thanks!
Just go around to all nearby mechanics and get quotes. It will be like a $600 - $700 job possibly.
Not cheap!
My way of doing it cheap is getting a friend of mine to help me and do it in my garage with the car on stands and ramps. :P
Gearbox has to come out........not a quick cheap fix. Price will also depend on whether you decide to just replace the seal and gasket or the whole rear main plate on the V6. Is it bad or can you live with it?
my mechanic sed i can live with it but u kno its prolly gna get worse sooner or later.. he sed its mainly jus gna cost me in labour, the seals f*ck all.. is ther anyone out ther that'll do it cheap lol..
sed? u? kno? gna? sed? jus? gna? ther? You'll get a better response if you write in English.
It would probably help if you told people where you live too, but your best bet is for you to go and get some quotes from places around you.
its pretty simple to read if ur not retarded.. if ur gna pick on the way i type u can pretty much jus fu*k off.. ur not helping anyone..
look out......lol
anyone in adelaide that mite wana do a cashy?
Pretty sure the name calling is not needed.
Also... typing 'f*ck' counts as bypassing the swear filter, so may want to cut that out too.
Hey you, back off! I'm in Adelaide.

for crying out loud, is this what the forums have come to?
If you can't read his post, move on to another one.
What you will need to do mate is use the search function a little :P there are a number of threads for the removing of the auto, if you have a manual there are a number of threads for the removing of a manual too.
Then search rear main seal there are a few good and detailed threads on that, the advice i'll give you is check that it's not your valley gaskets from up higher, go to the carwash, degrease the heck out of the engine bay and around the top at the back too.
Once its all clean drive it for a day or so and then try to trace the oil back to it's source.
Oh and if you do pull the gearbox out and replace the seal go to holden and get the seal AND the plate that it sits in together, use some silicone around that plate when you install it and make sure the crank is clean and free of any little sharp edges, I have done this a few times now and have finally got it down pat.
Let us know how the engine cleaning goes. Oh and for the record it MIGHT get worse but 90% of v6 commodores have a rear main seal leak and it's 99% more of a slow seep.
ha rear main seal leak the 304's left the production line leaking oil
