ok so last night i went to bris to help a mate move house and the car went a little haywire...
it was really pouring rain and i mean HARD for about an hour of driving...
water came in both kick panels and i'm not sure why...
anyway the torque converter started grinding ~90 to 100kph
i had to put my foot down more as there was a big flat spot just cruising lightly
and when i'd come to idle sometimes it would stall
going from drive into reverse it stalled...
then coming back home it was ok, the weather had settled down and the torque converter wasn't playing up (never done it before this)
driving today the idle is funny it keeps changing up and down (e.g. 800rpm up to 1200 in neutral - i dont have a tacho so just guessing) and stalled a few times idling around corners . almost stalled numerous times sitting in traffic it would die pretty bad when i touch the accelerator to go and then would go fine after a second or so... if it didn't stall. would restart straight away.
i was thinking mayby crank angle sensor but i checked the error codes and all that's coming up with is :
12
44 Right hand oxygen sensor lean
64 Left hand oxygen sensor lean
76 - air fuel ratio variation between left / right bank
it's possible that some water got into the ecu and made it start playing up.
running 98 octane fuel in it with a delcowizzid tune. $1.40 a litre YIKES!...
last week i ran out of fuel (oops) and it would have logged an error code or two but didn't worry about it and had no problems after putting fuel in again. just thought i'd mention that.
any suggestions as to what to do? mayby remove the ecu and check it's not wet? is there a way to test the idle speed controller?
it's had new oxygen sensors and fuel filter a week before new years as well as oil and filter. always been well serviced!
Water in the fuel causing a blockage in the fuel filter which then limits the supply of fuel.
Water in the air flow sensor/TPS/VSS.
The TC noise may just have been the engine misfiring.
I'd run it for a few days on E10 to get rid of water in the fuel and also to give any sensors that got wet a good chance to dry out....and keep those fingers crossed.
Good Luck.
no worries i'll see how she goes mate!
