out of curiousity, what would the top speed, under ideal conditions, be of a
stock VR 6 sedan
stock VS 6 sedan
under ideal conditions would include the mechanical condition of the vehicles.
i've searched everywhere but their top speed isn't published
mine allmost hits redline in 4th at 210 and the clock is marked 220 so its a safe assumption you could get it off the clock if you go right upto the limiter.
i have a series 2 ecotec with extractors, exhaust, cai, delcowizzid tune, mild shift kit and 207 on the clock.
vr v6 executive,
190km/h at 4500rpm in 3rd gear
Speed limited to 220 I'd say. I know VN/P are. Factory tunes have a low limit set at 210 and high limit at 220. Im assuming it begins to fuel cut at 210.
Assuming the gearing in the auto box's didnt change VS-VR wouldnt they be the same?

Highest ive seen is a stock VR at 210, didn't go any higher, assuming it is speed limited there. Note it doesn't quickly get to that hah.
210 speed limit?!??! lol that's a pretty stupid limit! if you're going to factory speed limit an engine, 120-140km/h seems far more appropriate than 200+!!!
i've taken my baby up to 210 (private road) before i dropped my nuts, when she was completely stock, and that was at 4400rpm (VS2 na6 a4), i have an enclosed pod cai with 4inch piping, extractors and 2.5inch exhaust and she's quite a bit more eager now...
I can see this thread lasting a long time....![]()

Correct for VN/P, assuming correct for VR/S also. Starts the cut at 210, by 220 there is no more fuel.
No. The speed limiting fuel cut will make them the same, but assuming that was disabled and the road was straight and long, the Ecotec pulls much better at high RPM than the old 3800. Stock Ecotec 180-200 will be faster than a stock 5L's 180-200 time. Most people won't believe you when you tell them that but it's true.
Nothing you mentioned there will help you at all in a top speed scenario. It might get you from 0kph to 60kph quicker but that's about it

vs v6 executive n/a motor 220+ 18'' wheels
So you guys are telling me that every single person in this thread has done 200km/h+ on private roads? Then please let us all know whichprivate road/race track has a long enough straight for a stock V6 commodore to do 210km/h (and that allows the general public in a road car to do this)?
I just find it funny that people say they did huge speeds or massive burnouts, but then try and justify it by saying it was done on a public road.

No flaming from me. At least you are honest about it unlike lots of people on here lol
But that's the thing. We know that it isn't done on a 'private road' when they say "I have had my VR V6 up to 215km/h on a private road". So they are already setting themselves up to get flamed...

Remember that this is the internet everything is a lie
tested my cruise control and it stops at 200. i think i got ripped off. the speedo says 220 but you cant "cruise" at anything over 200
seriously though. my manual vr with a vp motor and vn computer. went 220+ and still had a bit more in it. just not enough power to beat the wind.
