Hi Guys,
Unfortunately I had a bit of an accident today and turned my SS into a submarine wanna be... I think it's going to end up being a write off.
Anyways, I won't know until tomorrow if it's written off but just in case... I've found a '95 VS Clubsport that is taking my interest... just wanting to weigh up the pros and cons of upgrading from a 165 to a 185? Fuel is the big thing as I do about 400-500k's a week.
I haven't driven a 185 before so unsure if there's much more power than the standard 5ltr's.
Anyone who knows please get back to me coz if the beast is written off I need to move on the Clubby asap![]()
my car has the 185 set-up, its on dual fuel but when i use petrol it doesnt use any more than my old ss did ( my ss sadly got written off too)
Black, Red leather, 20" Pentagons, Red walls, Lowered, OTR, Mafless, 3.9s, Diff dumpers, 341rwhp...
185i, Chasers, Flappers, Venetians, Sunvisor, Twin diff dumpers, 194rwhp...

The motors are identical. You can get the same(or better) power level with a decent flowing exhuast and a tune. (will usually be BETTER on fuel too)

Kewl thanks for your input guys... will take that on board.
So... another question... RJK, you say that the 185i's are overpriced? I'm looking at a 95 series 1 clubby... totally stock... looks to be in good nick, body and paint is good... interior looks good (leather)... 185000 on the clock. I'm having someone go to look at it for me this weekend as it's a few hours drive away.
Never towed, never been in an accident... 2 owners.
What kinda money do you think I should be looking at for something like this?
Well I found out today that the car is going to be written off... now I'm having a shit fight with the insurance company about my payout value... they're going to get back to me apparently. Anybody on here had issues with insurance companies doing this (probably anyone who's ever had a write off lol) have any advice on how to 'win' the argument?
Also the clubby I was looking at... I phoned the guy today about it and now he's taken it off the market![]()
So I'm looking for a car... I live in the Townsville area but will travel to collect it. Preferably want another VS SS... or a VR/VS Clubby. So if anyone knows of a good reliable car at a reasonable price can you plz send me a msg and let me know.
Cheers![]()
Driving over a flooded access road... hit some slippery stuff and slid into a table drain... couldn't get out of there... transmission started making a nasty metal on metal grinding noise (probably water going into the breather), then water started coming in onto the floor thru the doors... I killed the engine at that point... jumped out thru the window and the found myself waist deep in floodwater. The car is cactus... and I loved that car![]()
At least it's only the car that's written off and not you.
Pantha I used to work in motor claims insurance. You can pm me if you like, what problems are you having with your insurer? I also had issues with GIO when one of my cars was a write off. I dropped them like hotcakes after the payout was through. WORST company EVER to deal with insurance payouts.
Vee-ard... I blame mother nature for flooding the road in the first place!
As VS5.0 said... it could have been worse... a car is replaceable... as long as the insurance people come to the party! I wasn't injured, so that's something to be happy about.
Cheers PinkedVR... I'll send you a priv8 message shortly![]()
Pity you couldn't have kept your car at your house after it got water in it, Sammy managed to pull the engines from all his cars after the Newcastle flood and save them
**** omar i cantr believe it the ss that was the best looking ss on here (not including mine ofcourse) as long as ur alright
Hey greenfoam.
Yeah the car was about 60k's from home (the joys of living out in the sticks)... I wanted to take it to one of my work clients in town who does performance auto work to get them to look at it, but the insurance agency wanted it at their assessment place... and the water was up over the centre console inside the car... so all the electrics, seats, etc were pretty well soaked.
Lebo... yeah it was a nice car... but there are other cars (I've found another pantha mica SS in brisneyland I'm going to enquire about)... now it's just the hassle of insurance companies and the even bigger hassle of not having wheels... and living out in the sticks!
As an indication to prices for Clubsports, there is a 96 VS Clubsport for sale in Saturday's paper here in Perth. 175ks $6,000.
Not sure what condition it is in but sounds pretty cheap.
