Talking VR exec. advice for servicing auto and changing all filters

    hey everyone,

gonna try and service my transmission and change my fuel and oil filters this weekend. never done this before.

    I have already:

    - Auto Trans Service Kit (gasket and filter)
    - Fuel Filter
    - Oil Filter

I'm gonna need some gasket glue/sealant some trans fluid and some engine oil if I can afford it ill change it

anything I should watch out for? any guides on here for doing it? anything I should do while i'm at it?

    thanks

oh well its pretty straight forward jsut with the fuel filter make sure u watch ur eyes when disconnecting the hoses or disconnect the fuel pump and start the car so u have no fuel pressure in the lines

when you do the transmission make sure you dont get any dirt in it and do the sump bolts up to the proper torque using a torque wrench. Fuel filter change the hose at either end as well.

There is a "how-to" in that section of this forum which I've found for you: VN-VS Gearbox Fluid and Filter Change (Auto)
plus you will not need any sealant on the gasket....you will need 5 litres of Dexron111 and whilst a torque wrench is desireable (~$70) it is not necessary...just tighten the bolts evenly so they are tight and not too tight...if they are not tight enough the gasket may leak slightly but you can then re-tighten them.....however if you overtighten them you can over-compress the gasket causing leaks or strip the threads. Just go gently (as the actress said to the bishop).
When it's finished, sit back and be satisfied that you did it yourself.
