!!!weird clicking/zapping sound in engine bay??

hey guys
my vr v6 has started making this weird noise. when its on idle it makes a really fast ticking noise. And when i rev it it turns into a sort of zap noise. its not the idler pulley. it sounds like its coming from the alternator or injectors??

Are all of your leads plugged in?

ye they are.
it sounds like its coming from ontop of the engine.

its an exhaust leak where the headers join the engine

doesnt sound like its coming from there.
if it is that.whats needed to fix it. new gaskets?

ticking could also be your lifters
