hi all
i recently got a vs, all was good for a week but now it is running realy rough under mild acceleration. idles fine, runs ok when accelerater pushed to floor (not flogging it), but taking it easy around town and sitting on high way at 110 it breaks up bad. (feels like my old kingswood did when it fueled up) i pulled out a plug and it was clean and in goood condition. goingt o try a code check today but dont want to start throwing dollars at it to fix it untill i have a better idea where to throw it properly.
thx all
macka
It sounds like a bad plug or lead, probably lead.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

i will get out and check it soon now its a bit cooler weather. also will check to see if it gives me a error diagnosis.
just did the test for the fault codes and got the following
Code 47 - Crank Angle Reference Signal
can someone plz tell me what this means, what needs replacing and would this cause my problems i am having.

If you own a oscilloscope you can check the pattern on the CAS.
To confirm the CAS is faulty.
But if you dont have one just change the CAS sensor
new CAS it is?
thats ok, did one on a vn v6 so know what im in for. is that the answer to my car running so rough or should i still put new leads/ plugs on. dont want to spend money i dont have to if possible.
thanks for the replies all.
great forum..
CAS should be enough to get it going again, but a new set of leads and plugs never hurt
i think it's the VS badge on the car that could be causing your problems
thanks again. will get a CAS next couple days and try it. plugs were in good condition and leads seemed ok (ends looked good they were not stiff and dont look to old). be happy to get this car running right again.
HI ihave a vs commodore its running rough at an idle and when driving. i have changed the plugs and leads changed the fuel filter and checked the coil packs. And now i'm stumped. Please help thanks
i changed the CAS and running like a dream now. $70 from bursons and a hour to fit it ( took 20 mins to find my harm bal puller) thanks for the advice all.![]()
seems to be starting to behave like it was before i replaced CAS. only been in a week and was running great till todays drive. exact same symptoms as before. i will try a error code check tomorrow.
could the CAS be stuffed already? this seems unlikely.
it appears that the non-genuine CAS's are great at lasting 1-2 weeks and then dying...
Get a genuine holden one and you shouldnt have any problems.
I have seen brand new aftermarket CAS's fail from new.Stick to genuine holden sensors, they cost a bit more but they work out cheaper in the long run.
i had the same problem with my VS I found it was my harmonic balancer and my CAS
what do u think of my chances of bursons giving a refund for the faulty one. was only in car for 1 week..
only milk and juice should come in 2 litres
