hey all,
Iv got a VS ecotec which is relatively stock with CAI, tune and catback. I recently bought lukey extractors and a high flow cat second hand and i am just wondering as to wether i should run the high flow cat or not when i install my extractors. Iv been told you should only run a high flow cat on fairly modified cars?
in a nut shell, should i run a high flow cat or just leave the stock one on? cheers
Well if you have it then why not install it? It certainly won't have any negative effects, unless its been dented/damaged in any way.

Just stick it on.
I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one for a mildly modified car though
mm ok, so i wont loose to much back pressure resulting in it being slower? thats what iv been told...
You will be fine. You got it so why not use it.
Correct me if I'm wrong someone but I swore I saw Not an Abba Fan say in a previous post in another thread that a higher flow cat on a V6 is very unecessary and doesn't help performance or sound. I thought it might negatively affect it.
Thats all my memory can serve...
Hopefully Not An Abba Fan can expand or tell me if I'm daydreaming....![]()
i got a highflow on mine and i did notice better response and bit more sound, thats with nearly every bolt on mod you can get tho
hmmmm,,, damnit need a straight answer![]()
wait for abba to find this thread he will tell you straight
Just wondering if you can take the guts out of cat???
Will it work on a positive note?
OMG its starting, run for cover.![]()

"Today on Bush-mechanics, how to fully-sik hektic gut your cat"
Step1. Find a cat (the one on your car)
Step2. Get a pole
Step3. Smash teh guts outta it,
Step4. Go cruising wif da boys
Step5. Realise your car smells like rotten eggs
Step6. Trying to explain to mummy why she has a $10,000 EPA fine on her car.
Step7.....................your doing it wrong.
Way to go for sure, better flow & performance not to mention improved economy
no worries fellas cheers! im going to run it and ill report back once i have.. gutting the cat lol a mate once did it in this banged up lump of sht paddock bomb VP .. trust me it sounds a mess
dont run a cat at all if u have the right exaust it sounds good. mine passed roadworthy without one so cops will never find out
Yep, sounds like a REAL legit roadworthy you had done there.
Don't try and tell us it was either, even if he meant to legitimately do your roadworthy, your mechanic or whoever did it obviously shouldn't even own a toolbox. Any DECENT mechanic who does a roadworthy needs to look at the exhaust, listen etc.
If QLD's version of Vicroads whatever that may be, or the cops find it etc, your mechanic or whoever did the RWC could get a MASSIVE fine.
