Whining noise Diff or Auto

hi guys ive got a VS ute with V6 & Auto with 312k kms, and there is a whining noise coming from either the auto or diff im not sure which one, its slowly got worse over time. the with increases its pitch with speed and not with rpm, so that lends me to think its the diff, or like the output shaft of the auto. any ideas? anyone had the same problems? thanks

the diff mate.. could possibly be ur wheel bearings are shot or culd be ur bearings inside the diff like ur pinion bearing or one of the crown wheel bearings . better to jack the car up and then spin it up and have a suss.. even with a long screwdriver to pik the sound more. if its just a wheel bearing then it ant to hard to replace them

nope autos fluid is a little discoloured but it still gets all gears wit hno slipping..

With the Km's you've done, it's expected and quite normal to have a bit of a whine from the diff.
My advice only for what it's worth, but I'd just add some Nulon or other diff treatment to the diff and leave it at that. The alternative is trying to get rid of the whine which will cost many dollars and frustration.
