Hey all my Vr has decided to start leaking oil out of the front between the tranny and the engine its definitly auto fluid.
it drives perfect but leaks can anyone give me any suggestions on what to do and how to fix it or am i better of just getting a 2nd hand gear box.
its probably just a seal mate, one of my mate's cars had a similar problem, then it began revving out, he lost power to his wheels then (both) seals went kaput and he lost ALL his trans fluid, cost him like $500 or something :S
it could be a hose clamp, maybe a split in the hose..
try wiping down the surfaces clean (if u can) then check a bit later to see where exactly the fluid is leaking from - theres a start

Take it to a transmission shop before it gets any worse and your forced to do a rebuild.
transmission shop recons just to rebuild it to be sure and wants 1500 bucks
As per PM mate put up your location. Some one may know a person worth going to.
I live in hervey bay queensland and nilly every machanic and auto shop is a rip off merchant unfortunitly
sounds like the front seal has gone, easy seal to change but unfortunately you have to take the gear box out to change it.
yea def sounds like a seal, worst case is tourque converter is leakin fluid, but then you would have change in your cars general driving
Vs eco 3.8, extractors, 2.75" exhaust, roller rockers, cammed, bored out 20, t5 manual, rolling on king springs all way round with monroe gt shocks all way round, every door has a ding but looks can be very deceaving
yep $100 fix $20 for seals and $80 for beer - get a mat to give you a hand can be done with floor jack and a 1/2 inch socket set. just a hint drain box first saves big mess later
Making and running DUAL CHIPPED ECU SINCE 2010
Converter seal is leaking. Trans out to fix.
Check the converter bushing (bearing), if this is worn the new seal will leak.
If the bush is worn you may see grooves worn in the back of the converter (the bit that goes into the trans).
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
tyvm everyone ill give it a go
Bloodyricho only 1 problem there lol i kinda hate beer but ill happily polish of a bottle of bourban doing it
If you don't want the hassle of pulling it apart to put a new seal in, you could throw in a can or two of "auto trans seal conditioner''....this usually will soften the seals and make them seal better....it usually works and reduces leaks down to a drip or two. Buy a better brand....Nulon seem good.
so its not the rear main seal on the back of then engine? so u are loosing trans fluid like u checked the dipstick
ive checked it. its definitly auto fluid
