engine I.D help

Hey guys just picked up a vr 5ltr few weeks ago, now the guy said the motor has been changed with a 195i but on the engine number it has a v------p, now i was told that it is a stolen recovery? or is it the origional prefix for the HSV VT5.7 220kw?

i believe VT 5.0L engine numbers start with VM or VN, and for the VT 5.7L 220kW it was VP (which it was also for the VL Walkinshaw)

Unusual for a GM engine number to start and end with a letter.
A V....P number sounds a bit like a re stamp issued in Victoria.
Give VicRoads a call to check the number.

Yeh thats what i was told but i wasen't sure just wanted to see if anyone has any info on it. Ill ask vic-roads and see if they can give me any history of the motor thanks
