Hi guys a mate of mine has a series 2 vs berlina wich we did a manual conversion on about 12months ago we put in a t5 box and series 1 ecu and loom had no probs till a couple of weeks ago. now the engine is idleing at around 2000rpm. we have replaced o2 sensors, coolant temp sensor, throttle position sensor, and the idle air control. even tried a complete throttle body and checked for vacuum leaks but still have the same problem. any help is greatly appreciatted.
When you replaced the idle air control valve, did you remember to plug back in the electrical connector?
yeah all plugged in
I know you tried a different throttle body
but have you checked for a sticking butterfly.
Try resetting your base idle.
yeah guys tried all the obvious stuff even checked for vacuum leaks around the intake even check the pcv valve in the manifold
So with the IAC disconnected, you cannot screw the idle down to about 600rpm?
In your first post you said: "had no probs till a couple of weeks ago"
There has to be a clue there.
Try disconnecting every hose that takes vacuum from the inlet manifold one at a time including the brake booster...close each one with your thumb and see what happens.
tried that aswell
Are the vacuum passages to the IAC and throttle body clean and not blocked.....any chance of the IAC connector being dodgy with a wire broken......really clutching at straws now!!!
so are we chnged the whole throttle body with another vs and same prob even put the multimeter on the wiring for the tps and iac all is normal
Would a vapour cannister purge solenoid stuck open cause it?
If air was entering the combustion chambers via a leaking vacuum hose etc, wouldn't it leave a code for weak mixture???
just a quick one, but is the brakes still good or have they gottin hard, your booster could be cactus causing massive air leak
an update last night he took the ecu out of the kick panel and checked the wiring plugs and all good then smacked a couple of times with his hand and car was running fine last night so the hunt is now on for a series 1 manual ecu. good luck hey lol
