Hey,
My v6 vs has been running poorly lately (Sounds like it could be missing, runs really crap until its warmed up, when i crank it over it sounds like its struggling to start, smells like fuel and just dosent sound right) so for some reason i decided to take the top off the intake manifold, now i know its normal for it to be a little black with carbon deposit's etc, but as soon as i took the lid off the intake manifold i could smell fuel, and the runners and inside of the lid looked like it was covered in oil/fuel, i attached a picture but it was off my phone so its kinda crappy,
i checked on the other side of the throttle body and it was pretty clean/no oil or anything..
i was gonna take the spark plugs out tomorrow and check to see if they were all black too,
but i didnt think it was really possible for a fuel injected car to run ritch unless i modified the memcal? or could a bung sensor be at fault?
Thanks
Do a codes check as it's possible one of the oxygen sensors is buggered on one side and telling the ECU the mix is weak. Another possible is the coolant temp sensor which tell the ECU the engine is cold so it needs a rich mixture. But first I'd do the codes check.
Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
checked error codes and only got 12...
but ive heard that the o2 sensors dont spit a code until they are completly farked?
either way im sure they could do with being replaced anyway..
The oxygen sensors dont even do anything while the engine is cold. The ECU ignores them until the engine is up to temp.So they wont effect the running of the engine when its first started up from cold.
I didn't even think of that Brett.
How about worn injector(s) on that bank leaking/dribbling overnight into the inlet manifold leaving a small pool of fuel in the manifold and a petrol smell - engine starts, plugs that are wet don't fire etc till dry. When warm runs OK.
