Is there a way to tell if I have a VR or VP engine in my car. When I brought it I was told it have a VP engine put in it although on the engine itself it has VR written on it (its wrom a wreckers). Also would a VR gearbox work in a VP engine as I wasnt told about the gearbox being swapped over when the engine was.
There is minimal difference between the two. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
ok but if its a vp engine will it be a vp gearbox or could it still be a vr box?
You can tell by the engine number

the VR box is electronic-hydraulic and the VP i think is still hydraulic. (VR has a 'power' button)
ah ok then cause this car does have a power button.
