Default exhaust, vr y piece fit a vs?

ok i have a vr 2 1/2 inch exhaust liying around and want to fit it to my vs but from what i see is that the y piece on the vs is a lot diff from the vr. was wondering if a vr y piece will fit on stock vs ecotec motor/headers or will it hit the auto or sumthing. cheers

Default vr to vs y peace

no they wont as the vs y peace has two oxygen sensors one on each side and the vr only has one down near the cat

hmm ok i can probly find a way around that by putting 2 oxygen sensors 1 on each side on a vr y picece but what i relly wantta no is if it will bolt up. ( just trying to make it a bit easyer than cuting and welding half of the exhaust like i seem to end up doing with most of my cars iv owned)

The front section is completely different. The Y pipe and cat is one piece on the VS, the cat is in the middle and a bit further back, the flange on the rear of the cat is different. The only thing that will fit is the rear section.

The Y pipe will not bolt up to the ecotec manifolds either, they are different too.

A lot of people don't have a welder or the know how to put the extra nut in the y piece for the sensor indeed most people couldn't be bothered, did you ask the price for a VS y piece?. When you place a thread up you should ask specifically what you want and the truth of the matter is that a standard VS y piece will not bolt up to a VR without modification. People gave you answers subject the standard piece. Most things will fit most things with Modification! but not everyone can do the mods needed and standard parts make things easier.

Hi just standard ecotec manifolds i know that the vr manifolds are diffenrt but i think only where they bolt onto the heads it was a bit tight on the drives side brace that goes from the motor to the auto could of dented it a bit and would of fitted but i just took it off dont need both of them lol

Well there you go, was under the impression that the manifold outlets were different.

The exhaust velocity will suffer though as the earlier Y pipe comes together closer to the engine. I wouldn't be surprised if you lose a bit of top end and low end acceleration.
