I have just put a VS v6 (non ecotec) into a VR commodore. I used the original VR G/box & didn't change the ecu etc...
Should I of done this? Does it matter. I didn't think you could get a VS non ecotec V6 but the wrecker was certain it was from a VS.
Thanks
all vs v6's were ecotecs

unless it was originally from a VR before you got it, just because it came out of a VS dosnt mean it wasnt in a VR first.
Say it was out of a commodore which wasn't a VR would the ECU etc... be the same or would it really need to be run off the correct ECU?
I'm thinking about doing this but I don't really want to have to change my auto, (shift kit in it, etc)
u can use the auto but the wirng inside is 1 wire different something do with the speedo u can use the vr extension on the tranny and pull the pan off and change the loom inside. i just changed my vr to ecotec and that was a headache i used a vx engine with a vs manual loom with a t5 instead of a getrag and changed the whole body loom to a statesman. there is a lot of little differences that u wouldnt think of between vr and vs
