why does my manual v8 box have V6 six gear ratios???

hello

i have cahnged my vs calais to manual b4 christmas was all good till i did a 3rd gear skid and stripped 3rd, pulled it out then apart, i was counting the gear teeth and they match V6 gear ratios, i know v6 gear ratios would make it go better but, cause i need and new cluster gear/shaft and reverse and 3rd do i just get V6 shaft and 3rd gear etc????

i know that to get the v6 gears to fit the imput shaft has to be machined etc, so if i got new gears ans so on, will my imput shaft still fit???

or am i bettter in getting another reco box or exhange reco box???

it came out of a vn but i dont know if it was a ss, cause aparenty the ss boxes are built different

ok just found out its a VN SS box, its not a std t5 the bell houseing is bigger than std!
