Default VS Series 2 auto ute fuel usage ??

    hey evryone !

im new here, picked up my vs ute last friday, put a full tank of premium fuel in it and away i went, i have done 210km and the fuel gauge is reading that i have a bit under a quater of a tank left !!!!

i dont know if the guage is inaccurate or if i have a problem ? but im prety sure i should see 500+km from a full tank. i cant see it getting another 300km from a little under a quater of a tank so im prety sure i have a problem.

i will put a few more tanks of fuel in it and see what happens, but i think i may need some help.

That gauge reading could be correct - lots of people get 300 - 400klms from a tank. The other thing I've noticed is that when you get a new car you tend to test it out a bit.....which don't do the economy any good!
You may get 500+ on a long run. Some people reckon they get a lot more, and some say less.....it all depends on your driving style.
So I'd give it a few tankfulls to settle in before worrying about chewing juice. You may find the car runs just as well on 91 octane although some prefer premium...it's your choice.
Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

I get 510km from my VS Ute using standard unleaded and a rooted fuel pump lol, but thats full highway driving, i normally travel long distances. I would be lucky to get 250km just driving around town. I hope i get a little better economy when i fit the new fuel pump.
And yeah, as hako said, try and keep your revs to a minimum.
bjc, is your ute a 6 or 8?

hey guys thanks for the feedback ! its only a v6, i know what ur saying about driving it hard an stuff but i havent realy been giving it much at all ! been babying it just coz its getting a service tomorrow so i thought id wait till evrything was fresh till i gave it a boot or 2.

if it didnt get 400kms out of the tank id be fairly disapointed, correct me if im wrong but an LS1 would chew less than that !

Only if you were getting towed for half the time. The bent eight can and will chew at least 20% more fuel under most conditions.

if the problem persists let us know and we will go from there

ok this is going to sound wierd but here we go lol

put a tank of regular 91 ron fuel in it ive used half of a tank and i have done 290ks so i reckon im looking like ill get around 450 !! (happy with that!!!

compared to the 250 i got off the full tank of premium ??

    what the hell ?

wile im here i have another question, the springs in the back of the car have just been cut, so i am replacing them with super low king springs. im happy with the hight of the chop shop ones but the ride is very harsh. i want the same height so i took a stab at super lows, do yous think itl sit the same with the SL's in or higher or lower ???, defs not worried about it sitten a lil lower i just dont want them to be too high because i cbf taking the springs back an swapping them for SSL and having to do it all again :P

IMO i think super lows should sit about the same ??

    cheers. steve.

p.s once its lowerd the plan is to put vy sigs on it

It may take a few tanks to figure out your consumption - it all depends on time of the day/temp/angle you park at, pump cut-off etc etc but it's good to see it's better than you first thought.
Your ute looks pretty good to me - why does the windscreen look tinted?

According to the litre per 100km on my dash thing.
With auto I was getting 10.8 babying it, 11.5-12.5 being silly.
I've just converted it to manual and after doing 400km's this weekend, It's saying 10.8.
So I'm quite curious to see what it does once I get over the fact its a manual and stop use 80% of each gear haha.

Theres no way using the different fuels will have that much of an effect on the economy, sounds more like someone syphoned your tank. There is a bit of a difference using higher octane to a lower one,but its not that big of a difference. My VS V6 is better on 98 octane fuel than the 91 stuff.I get more KM/L from 98 stuff but the point is its not that big of a difference.98 octane gets me around 20 KM 's further for the same amount($).
