Check the alternator wiring where it joins the alternator, the wiring can get hot which corrodes the wire and causes a bad contact which makes the charge light come on.Also check the alternator output. It should be around 13 volts or more with the engine running(idling). The error code 83 is an auto transmission fault.Try clearing the error code by disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes. Then see if the error returns after you have been for a drive.

The alternator regulator brushes may be worn down to nearly not touching. Remove the regulator and see if the brushes are gone. They must be about 7mm minimum length I think. Go see an auto elec with the regulator to confirm if you are not able to tell.
