what would a good servicing routine for a VSII V6 consist of?
I service mine every 8000km (oil and filter change), and every fourth service is a major service at UltraTune.. where they change all engine fluids and filters, plugs, and they tune her, allignment ballance etc. and do a thorough report on her.
Was wondering what other people's routine looks like.
My brother had a VL rb30, and the idiot serviced it every 20-30 thousand kms or so...
needless to say, it did not last long.
i service every 8000 rather than 10 because i thought 10 was under ideal conditions, which w.syd isn't
I got a VR and i do my own majors, and oil n filters. Oil and filter every 5000, and majors i can do when they're needed.
i used to do majors, but i want UltraTune to give it a good looking over every few ks...
thought the tuning stuff would be useful or am i wrong?
i personally dont think they can really tune anything, its all electronically controlled in these commodores.
i do my oil every 5000k,(found that 10000km is too long for sydney driving)
major services i do myself(plugs, air and fuel filter, check lead resistance, check sensors, clean maf throttle, and few other little things
only thing i leave to the mechanic is the transmission which gets serviced roughly every 20000-30000km
oil and filter and check for fault codes every 5000km
fuel and air filters every 20,000km
auto gearbox and diff, spark plugs and leads, coolant, clean throttle body every 40,000km
i test the coil packs and leads when there due but if the resistance is still under the max i leave them on and i use the colour changing tectalloy red coolant so if it still looks ok i leave it in there, im due to change mine now after 80,000km the coolant is getting dirty and has oil in it, i will be doing my intake manifold gaskets this weekend and putting in new coolant.
i give the car a quick checkover every service to keep an eye on everything else.
Im at 260,000km now i bought it with 150,000km on it.
