    Default vs starter issues

    hi all

i searched the forum for info on this but had no luck so thought id start new thread..

in the last week my starter has had a couple issues.
first it was other night when i went to start the car. could hear click from started but that was all. battery is fully charged, leads on terminals look ok. closed the bonnet and was going to look at it next day. Next day in morning hoped in and it fired no problem.

today i went to drive and it just clicked again. wouldnt turn over.
seems like a flat battery issue but i know this isnt the case. jumpstarting makes no difference..

any help would be greatly apprieciated

Starter motor or the solenoid on it, either way replace.
All the lead from the Battery to Starter motor, mine became intermittent. Best way to test is run a single jump starter wire from Positive battery to positive on the starter, careful not to short it out though. Disconnect the earth, put the jump start wire in place, then hook the earth back to the battery.
If thats the problem then replace that wire, about $25 to get made up with connections from an auto-lec.

Might be worth checking the main lead is tight on the solenoid. They have a habit of coming loose and killing the voltage to the starter.

the problem turned out to be the lead from battery to starter. it was yeaterday i fixed it, no auto elec open but the wreckers had a lead that was perfect and $10. cheap fix

small 1/4 inch drive ratchet was used to remove lead from solanoid from underneath. ( in case people had trouble)

thanks for all the help. i didnt have to buy a 2nd hand started to discover it wasnt broken. and i wasnt looking forward to having to pull starter out.
only milk and juice should come in 2 litres
