Hi Everyone,
I have a 5 litre VS Ute.
Now when I got it, it had an aftermarket alarm, which didn't work. So I have ripped that out, and it is back to factory. It appears to whoever had it before me, decided to install after market central locking. That doesn't work either, to start the car I have to push the button to deactivate the factory immobiliser.
I thought if I just put key into ignition, it should start?
Or at least when I do press the button, the blinkers should flash as if I was to unlock it?
I just can't work out exactly what is going on. I am happy to install original central locking gear into it, to keep it factory. Or put after market in, and a decent alarm system. Until I work out how these utes came from the factory I am not sure.
Pretty much, if I walk up to the car, press the button, the interior light comes on and immobiliser turns off. Blinkers don't flash twice, if I turn the car off and press button nothing at all. Sounds like someone has played around or maybe something is not right with the BCM?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

the indicators should definintaly flash when u push the button , check the hazard fuse, if thats blown the indicators wont flash when u push the button
doin skids for the kids and doughnuts for the grown ups
I would think that when the aftermarket stuff was put in there had to mods to the original gear. They may have made mods to the wiring that enters the BCM, also on some utes I don't think the BCM had Central locking activated so that would explain why theres no flashing of blinkers and stuff. The best way to fully remove aftermarket alarms is to get an Autoelec or an alarm installer to do it then everything can be removed.
Im pretty sure the series 1 VS utes did not have central locking fitted. Is yours a series 1 VS?
hey mate i had this problem in my v6 it was a blown fuse
pull out all your fuse's and check them carefully im sure that will be the case
I have pulled out the previous alarm gear and the so what attempted effort of the Central locking, I don't know how that seriously would have worked in the first place. The alarm installation was crap, the installers couldn't have been too knowledgeable.
So as it stands the ute is back to factory gear.
It is a Series I I had a fair assumption that maybe it didn't have central locking. Pain in the arse I have to press the button everytime I go to start it. I thought putting the key into the ignition would have done the trick, I will check the wiring going to the metal ring on the ignition barrel as I am pretty sure when I was removing the alarm I noticed there some wiring disconnected. I just haven't had time to look at it properly.
I have bought a central locking kit for it, just need to find a decent alarm that is compatible with the BCM so I don't have to press two buttons to get the ute started. Or I may just go and buy one of those central locking kits that have a remote to unlock yet.
I have checked the BCM, I can't see any tempering there as well.
Thanks guys.
