    Default my vs statesman progress

    hey guys i posted a thread before about my vs stato and its coming along quite nicely this is my first car, i decided being a panel beater i would work the body first soo ive started doing all the repairs just finished all the repairs tonite actually haha so yeah shouldnt be long before she gets her new coat of paint im hoping to 2 tone it for i havent really seen many 2 tonned statesmans and im keeping the colours a secret incase someone takes the idea hahaha here are some pics of her now

    body work: i shaved the side indicators of the front gaurds ive also shaved the aerial from the left hand front gaurd i shaved the bonnet emblem im taking the mouldings that run along the bottoms of the doors and gaurds of i hate the look of them ive shaved the chroms moulding of the front and rear bumpers ive repaired every panel on this car so 4 doors boot rear bumper front bumper bonnet and both gaurds

    good stuff, its a handy trade to have mate. Only down side is you always get your mates wanting you to fix there cars for them lol i cant remember the last time i didnt have a project on the go...

    oh mate tell me about it there a massive que hahahha my mate just got 20s put on his vt and he has to have his gaurds rolled and guess who he came to see hahah or my mates tell their mates that ill do stuff for them its quite annoying

    If i had $5 for everytime someones asked me to roll the guards id be a rich man by now lol

    hahaahgetting hammered repairing cars my favourite combination hahah btw with rolling gaurds its really as simple as hitting the inner metal of the gaurd up ?

    nah jw man im only a second year well just turned second year haha plus i do more smash than custom stuff only custom things ive done are to my own car

    yeah its just a case of rolling the lip, the trick is to do it slowly with a panel hammer, the same as you would do when fitting a new door skin, If you have got that far with your apprenticeship??
    If you go at it hard with a heavy hammer it will ripple the outer skin just as it does when doing door skins.

    yeah to true i have done a few door skins i would have to use a dolly as well or just the hammer ?

    yeah a dolly on the outer skin helps, just dont try and get it to roll to quick.. nice and steady is the key or you will end up needing to repair the guards ;-)

    Make sure you take the wheel off when doing it to, you can get a much better angle with your hammer.

    ok will do i should charge my mate 20 bucks a gaurd hehe :P well cheers for the info my bed is calling my name for i am well tired hahaah catcha p.s my car should hopefully be painted within a week or 2 soo ill post some pics up in a new thread when it is finished
