Try checking for error codes ,this link will show you how to do this.----Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)----The first post in this link explains how to do this and if you scroll down through the posts in the link, down near the bottom there is some excellent pictures which show you how to do this as well. This test tells you if there are any error codes logged in the Electronic Control Unit or ECU(or the engine management computer).Things like faulty sensors etc will cause a certain error code to log which can be "read" by doing this test. This test is easy to do and very handy to know about if you own a commodore.

Just a thought, I have seen a lot of people say that the Ignition Modules tend to get hot and stalls the car, but I am not sure as we had a 5ltr for years and never had an issue.

Normally Ignition Modules just die but I would have it checked, I would do the codes and would suspect the Hall Effect Sensor (same as Crank angle sensor) also I had some probs with mine and noticed that when the voltage fell below 10 volts it would stall.

this happened to my brothers vr v6 the other week, he would be sitting at the light waiting for the green then all of a sudden it would start to run a little ruff and then stall. a couple of times i managed to get it going by jiggling the wire going to the crank angle sensor and giving it a few taps but in the end turned out to be the crank angle sensor cause since its been replaced not a drama in the world.

yep this seems to be a very common problem that can come and go, or do it randomly
