    Default Horn Problem

When i bought my VS 3 years ago, the horn did'nt work. I did'nt really care, but now i want it fixed because i wanted to honk the horn at a bloody terrible driver that was holding me up the other day and nearly ran me off the road, but the horn does'nt work, i had to use hand signals instead, i admit i do get a little road rage sometimes, haha.
Now, i had a look at the horn wires under the car and they were not connected, so i connected them and the horn came on straight away, but it stayed on and would'nt stop. So thats obviously the problem that the previous owner had. I think the button inside the steering wheel might be stuck on or something. Is there any way to take the front cover off the steering wheel so i can check it out? Or, what else could be causing this problem.

    Cheers guys.

if it's a non-airbag wheel the front just pulls off, but the horn button is sealed inside. i'd go through everything else, wires, relay, horn module, see if it's a simple fix or not

Thanks mate, yeh i have checked everything else, and im confident its the horn button/s. I pulled the front of the wheel off, but i can't really do much from there can i? Im thinking i may just get a new wheel, going to auto pro tommorow, i might pick up one of the sports ones, they should just screw straight on should'nt they.

so did you plug the horn back in when u had the steering wheel front off? if your wheel is like my old one there should be 4 wires connected to a plug where 2 wires go to each horn button, maybe try cutting the wires on one side to see if that fixes it that way you will atleast have one horn button that works

Great idea mate, but how will i know which one is the broken one. I don't want to cut the wrong one. Do they need to be cut or can i just disconnect them from the button?

checking everything visually doesn't mean it's ok. there are some things you can do to test each component of the circuit, testing for continuity etc, 'backyard mechanics' such as just touching the horn terminals together behind the steering wheel etc
i've been caught out by visual checks more than once

Yeah smart move not only you wreck the dash but defeat the purpose of fixing the problem in the first place.
