When i bought my VS 3 years ago, the horn did'nt work. I did'nt really care, but now i want it fixed because i wanted to honk the horn at a bloody terrible driver that was holding me up the other day and nearly ran me off the road, but the horn does'nt work, i had to use hand signals instead, i admit i do get a little road rage sometimes, haha.
Now, i had a look at the horn wires under the car and they were not connected, so i connected them and the horn came on straight away, but it stayed on and would'nt stop. So thats obviously the problem that the previous owner had. I think the button inside the steering wheel might be stuck on or something. Is there any way to take the front cover off the steering wheel so i can check it out? Or, what else could be causing this problem.
Cheers guys.

if it's a non-airbag wheel the front just pulls off, but the horn button is sealed inside. i'd go through everything else, wires, relay, horn module, see if it's a simple fix or not

Thanks mate, yeh i have checked everything else, and im confident its the horn button/s. I pulled the front of the wheel off, but i can't really do much from there can i? Im thinking i may just get a new wheel, going to auto pro tommorow, i might pick up one of the sports ones, they should just screw straight on should'nt they.
with your ute being a series 3 does it not have air bag steering wheel??
no they were optional, just wondered if it did have, most late model's do.
so did you plug the horn back in when u had the steering wheel front off? if your wheel is like my old one there should be 4 wires connected to a plug where 2 wires go to each horn button, maybe try cutting the wires on one side to see if that fixes it that way you will atleast have one horn button that works
Check the fuse and relay.
I had same problem in my vr
Not knowing of just commodores than
I just wired in a little push button on dash
Past pink slip and rta inspectors
checking everything visually doesn't mean it's ok. there are some things you can do to test each component of the circuit, testing for continuity etc, 'backyard mechanics' such as just touching the horn terminals together behind the steering wheel etc
i've been caught out by visual checks more than once

At that time I just wanted a quick fix
As it was due for a pink slip
If i knew about just commodores at that time
i would of sorced out a proper fix
Sorry to go off the topic The only reson rta inspectors came to my house is
When i got my pink slip done 2 years ago a rta inspector came to my house and went over it
Just be wary to where you get your pink slip done
The guy was dodgy who done pink slip
I only saying this as i have never ever heard of rta inspectors coming to my house
i have a woodgrain steering wheel on my 96 exec and the horn doesnt wanna work can anyone tell me what could be the problem maybe the connections at the back?? or fuse?? cheers guys
