anyone know if this is easy/worth doing?
i do sooo many long trips i swear im gonna have arthritis in my right foot if I keep going with out it.
It's easy if you got all the parts.
Check your local Commodore Wrecker, they may sell all the parts as a kit.
hmm ok shall do! are there any write ups on here? is there anymore info you can give me on the conversion?
You will need to find out if the wiring is already there in the loom and dash.Someone on here should be able to tell you if the wiring is already there. You have to add the stop light/cruise cancel switches to the brake pedal.(theres 2 of them, ones a backup for safety)You need to add bulbs to the cruise control dash lights and add the blinker switch that has the cruise switches on it ,and of course you will need the actual cruise control module plus the cable for under the bonnet. There is also a relay under the dash you will need to put in.
I have a feeling the wiring may not be in a '94 VR exec....it is possible to put a patch harness in but it is a lot of trouble in my opinion. I fitted genuine cruise to mine but it had the harness already as it's a late VS. In your case I'd fit an aftermarket model - the AP50 is about $200 and works good - I've fitted 2 to cars and no probs.
hmm not sure if I like the ap50 as much, looks like it has better features though. what does everyone else think? genuine or ap50?
I think you'll find they all have identical features....just different methods of turning them on/off etc - there is also an AP60 and other models as well if you don't like the look of the AP50.
