I just lowered my VS ute and after doing so the car has become extremelly bouncy, from what i can tell most of this is coming from the rear of the car, i had suspicions that a shock was on its way out prior to changing the springs so i changed both the rear shocks with new standard Monro shocks. This has not fixed the issue what so ever. the current height in the rear has the wheel arch about half way through the 17inch tyre if that makes any sense (i dont know if there lows or super lows etc)... My through is that it could be the springs are too low for the shocks but im not sure and dont want to spend any more money on further new shocks if possible... other then that im really stumped. If anyone knows how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.
bouncy as in really hard? and jolty? if so that'd b the norm for a lowered ute lol.
No not hard the exact opposite, its feels as if its going to slam through the road.
Shockers bottoming out ??
Hitting the bump stops ??
Brand will make a difference, I had pedder lows and it was doing the same thing, pedders called it spring slap and repaired it by threading garden house over the coil springs so when it bounced it would hit the house and not bottom out, since then changed to king springs and never a problem.
Priming the shock before they are fitted will usually stop this. Try unbolting the bottom mount and pushing the shock up until it stops, let it come back all the way out and push it up again. This primes the oil in the shock and moves the air back up to the very top where it should be.
Its sounds like you are on super lows mate. I just put some used King "Lows" in my VS Ute and i also get a little bounce coming from the rear. I figured that because it is a ute it has hardly any weight over the back, as soon as i put my motorbike on the back, no more bounce. Apart from the little bounce, it is comfortable to drive. Since mine are only lows, i have no trouble with hitting or riding on the bumpstops. It might just be a ute thing. Not_an_abba_fan has made a good suggestion too, that makes sence.
