Hay rexy not sure if you have started your conversion yet, having just finished converting my vr v6 five speed to a five litre auto i would recomend looking at buying one with a 5ltr already,i bought a5ltr statesman from a friend and used all the parts from that, you will have change the "k"frame which holds all the front suspension including steering rack tie rods etc not a small job, the engine bay wiring harness has to be change which starts at the left hand front indicator arond to the fuse box then you will have try and fit all the "main harness"through the hole in the fire wall again not nice job,you have know choice because v6andv8wiring harness are not interchangable .I was lucky enough to have a holden service manual on my computer.Mate in short if you got the time and patience do it but its a big job good luck
thanks for the reply mate and na i havent started yet i would probably just buy a new car with one in it but im prity attached to my ute , haha spent a bit on it so i duno i might give it a shot i got the time not patience but haha .
thanks again if you have any other advice on where to start and shit with doing it that would be mint cheers.
I am going to be doing this soon to my car. Just search a lot of forums and if you find someone doing a conversion then ask questions (I asked a lot). There is even a full thread on it on another forum (SC). I agree with bondy 660, get a wreck and dismantle that. If you think it's too hard getting stuff out of the wreck then at least you can sell the parts and get your money back or even make a little. Getting the harness out was fairly easy on the wreck and I can only assume the V6 will be similar. Take your time and you'll be fine, although some people say it can be converted in a weekend. I can see that but you would have to be working pretty solidly for the whole weekend.
