Default dent puller for dings , bad or good idea?

ive had a bad run lately and i have several dents in panels that are not removable, just wondering if you use a dent puller can you actually cause more damage and also you would need too putty up the hole and prime it aswell wouldnt you?
i cant afford a panel beater and my car is starting too look like a smashed up shitbox due too some things of my fault and some things of another persons fault (who still hasnt paid her excess FFS)
