Hey guys recently the rpm would spike on cold start ups in the morning now its getting worse, like the needle will spike anywhere between 2000rpm to sometimes 5000rpm, it has a hsv 250km cluster and i have no clue as to what causes it. after about 5mins of driving it will stop but just today it started to come back after about half an hour, i tried searching but no luck
cheers
probably a dry/cracked solder joint in the tacho or voltage regulator - that's my guess![]()

i do notice when its cold and its spiking it has a rough idle only for about the first 30secs tho, does the dizzy run like a cas setup in them or how is it setup?
my mate jumped in my car tonight and he said his vq stato done the same then his ignition module shit its self, Im gna try going over all the connections and make sure there all good. When it spikes and i move the plug the spike stops.
Agree there as my module caused the same issues with tacho and missing engine/rough idle. Replaced it and it went away.
Mmmmm V8
so it was the problem, i opened up the ignition module and one of the pins going to the module had a bad joint so i just re soldered it and now its perfecti should make a write up for this lol ill try getting some piks if anyone's interested
