Strut bar to chasis bush. How to remove?

How do i remove the existing rubber bush that connects to the front of the strut bar (z bar, castor bar, radius rod)? It seems like it's all one peice of rubber that flanges out on both ends making it seemingly impossible to remove. I've tried levering it with a screw driver but it's just not coming out. Is there a trick to this, short of cutting it to peices?

I cut away the rubber at the front of the bush with a serrated knife until its small enough to come out. Use a long screwdriver to lever it out once the rubber is cut down enough.The replacement bushes are usually in 2 pieces so that makes it a lot easier to install the new one.
