Hi guys!!!
I have two technical questions that l would love to get some answers to. First of all, Does anyone know where to get a replacement hose located from the throttle body to the top of the manifold. i think its a vac hose.
2. A mate of mine has just recently bought a 93 vr that's on lpg. When she starts the car on petrol, its fine, but the guy who sold the car told her that she has to rev the car a bit when she turns it over to lpg. I've seen her do this, and it usually stalls. Any ideas??
thanks all!

I'll answer the first one

You could try Repco, Bursons, Supercheap Auto.
As for the LPG question, she's best to go to a LPG workshop and get them to give the LPG system a service. They will also be able to answer in detail any questions she might have
Take the vacuum hose with you when you go to SuperCheap etc - they carry fuel, oil, vacuum hoses in all sizes and the counter staff will know exactly what you need.
Re the LPG question - as SabbathSS says, it needs a tune and and an LPG workshop is the best place to go.
Not too sure if this is relevant or not?
When I had my VT, factory duel fuel, I was told/had to revv it up to around 2000rpm to change it over - so it didn't stall. Just assumed they were all like that? lol
I could just revv it to around 1500rpm, but it would cough a bit til the gas started flowing freely? or something, lol... (about .5 - 1 sec's worth of coughing/spluttering)
And could only do it in park, or neutral - less than 20km/h or so.
What LPG system is fitted ?
Mine, or the O/P's?
The one on my VT was Impco, gas mixer style (i think... lol, was 5 or so years ago)
Sort of doughnut shaped thingy before the throttle body![]()
the op's but yours could of been either complex mixer or ring mixer , impco mixers are generally bigger and bulky in appearance to a simple ring mixer.
some systems have a rpm change over switch , this allows the car to start on petrol and remain on petrol till the rpm is above the set change over rpm .
My thought on the LPG situation is that there is a lack of LPG in the Service line between the tank Lock-off valve and the Inlet Manifold to keep the engine running at change over, which indicates at least seven, if not more, possible issues. So the LPG is not in the line and has to come all the way from the tank to the engine before the engine stops rotating. When the engine was last turning on LPG and turned off, there should be LPG still available in the service line next time it is switched to LPG.
1 - The Filter in the Filter Lock unit is blocked.
2 - The Service line fittings or Filter Lock is leaking LPG to atmosphere. When the engine is running or stopped. When stopped, LPG escapes and there is no fuel in the line to keep the engine running immediately after switch-over from petrol start. Revving over 2K will allow the LPG to flow from the tank to the Mixer in time to keep running before the engine stops revolving enough to create vacuum that the LPG mixer requires to supply LPG fuel.
3 - There is a vacuum leak on the inlet side of the engine!
4 - The LPG and engine ignition system was installed incorrectly and when turning off engine with the key, it is still running until fuel in the LPG service line runs out. Not a likely situation!
5 - The Fuel line between the Vaporisor and Mixer is split/leaking.
6 - The Diaphragm in the Vaporisor is split.
7 - The Diaphragm in the Mixer is split.
Is it the hose in my attached picture?

If so;
Yes it is a Vac hose that sucks oil vapors from the sump to be burnt before entering the atmosphere in order to meet the Australian Vehicle Emission requirements.
As for this hose, I hope it is not on a LPG fueled vehicle. When LPG is installed, this hose must be removed and a new hose MUST be fitted between the manifold and to the fresh air inlet before at the front of the LPG mixer. The reason being, that LPG would be able to enter the engine sump and then there is a risk of engine explosion. The fitting at the throttle body is sealed-off at the same time.

thanks guys. I work for repco and couldnt source the vac hose. nothing in our system so i thought maybe it was available via supercheap or somewhere else besides geninue.
I'll let my friend know about taking it to a lpg service store. It seems a lil' odd that it does that, and she's too chicken to use the gas incase something goes boom... lol... thanks again!!

best lpg system is on the bbq. if the bottle is out of date and she dont need the lpg i would just remove it (lpg expert to do this tho)
