Default stock Vr V6 Acclaim (1994), need advise on upgrades & mods

Ive got a stock Vr V6 Acclaim (1994), need advise on upgrades & mods

Now just recently iv put in a 4 pin LSD, and 3:4:5 gear ratio ,and chucked in a speedo corrector...
Also i removed my stock memcal and put in a performance chip stage III from ebay, is this the right way to put it in? plus i cant feel a difference with the chip

Because i have done the chip, gears ,and diff, DO i need to re-tune/map/dyno my ECU to get better performance???

I want to get abit more extra cheap performance ,and i hear that inserting a K & N air-pod or high flow filter in my airbox will be good or Which Cold air Intake system is good?.. which option would be better? I want good cold air to enter my engine ,whats my best option?

Which injectors are bigger the VN OR VR? Or should i just reco mine..is it worth to reco them?

If i tighten my accelerator cable abit, will this benefit me in anyway?

i would go for the enclosed pod setup mace have to offer as far as CAI go's. as for the accelorator cable i doubt it unless its very loose and the butterfly doesnt open properly. Most of the chips of ebay are a gimic.

The whole stage thing is really a myth, Just used to make the chip look interesting. If you want a proper one, PM Delcowizzid and ask him kindly for him to tailor make you one.

The injectors are the same size, and even if one was bigger you need to do some pretty heavy work on your motor to need even slightly larger ones. Enclosed pod's are great, and can be cheaper than buying a K&N Panel. The cold air intakes that go over your radiator do quite the opposite, and heat up the air instead.

K&n air panel filter, extractors, exhaust. Don't worry about anything else unless you wanna get serious which means $$$$

G'day mate, get an enclosed pod filter CAI (MACE Engineering)......2.5in exhaust, straight through with extractors (redback are good and produce a nice note).....high flow cat (not really necessary but i got one) and a memcal from Greenfoam or Delcowizzid (this will make the one you bought look like the junk it probably is --- you will defiantly notice a diffierence with one of these tunes)

All that, with the LSD and diff gears you already have, will have the VR going a lot better than stock!

You can do some 'car friendly stuff' too ... like new plugs (NGK iriduim -- no power adder but you wont have to change them for some time), leads (8.8mm topgun or eagle) and good quality fluids.

its where ur air box is enclosed/attached behind your headlight to stop hot air from the engine entering. Yes a pod is usually enclosed in there. This is in my opinion the most effective way of getting cold air legally

I think with some high ratio roller rockers, exhaust, extractors and the CAI you'd be going good. With the tune I'd PM Delco Wizzard on here.

For The Win. And they will set you back around AU$800 + shipping. They are easy enough to fit yourself with a little mechanical knowledge.

A little advice though, If you dont feel comfortible picking up tools to work on a car yourself, then modifying cars is not for you. Paying for other people to do mods for you is rediculously expensive. On my cars, the only things I ever pay someone else to do is glass fitting and tuning - everything else I do with my own hands, so I know its done right (or atleast how I think it should be).

Things like precise machine work are an exception to this rule, obviously.

I dont know, I dont use either. I cut a hole in the bottom of my air box, through my guard and I have a big pipe drawing air from behind the bumper. Works pretty well, but not for everyone. I can weld a patch in and put it back to factory if need be.

hey i got a auto vs ute with 83000ks wen i bought it it had pacemaker extractors on it, n it went good then. In the last 6 months ive put on a 2.5" lukey cat back exhaust without rear muffler. sounds sic n gained a fairbit of power, cost me $350 i think, then bought a high flow k&n panel filter, and it did HEAPS ay. def worth the 80 bucks. That the only mods far as i no, but it goes so good now really punchy, beat a vr ss the other nite, n a turbo 6 vn ute,to 80. if u gunna do anythin i wud recomend these anyday!
