I was raced my mate 6 times and averaged 190km, the good thing is that i bet him ahaha ,but now i think i blew up my motor because there was a top end sound rattling and my mate said my bearing are gone becasue i didnt have much oil and cause my car had done 330,000,000km.. So im just wondering if its blown up and what other engine i should put in it.. I wana keep this car because i resprayed it not long ago, and its got 4 pin lsd and 3:4:5 gears?? PLEASE HELP GUYS!!!
Should i put a v6 or v8? is there huge difference in petrol?
DOES IT COST HEAPS TO DO A CONVERSION, Or should i just keep the same type of engine?
Putting a V8 in means you need a compliance modification plate as well as the motor, gearbox and ECU to suit. Staying with the V6 is the cheapest/easiest and should cost well under $1000 from a wrecker if you fit it yourself. My opinion only.
stick to a v6, sounds like u would kill yourself in a 8. and v6's are cheaper to replace when u blow them all up.
only milk and juice should come in 2 litres
330 million k's from a motor, thats not bad.
yeah not bad at all... stop and think you wouldnt be in this mess if you had a 0 - 60 kmh drag. still legal and is near impossible to break your car. go to a wreckers or try gumtree you can usually pick engine and trans up for about $400. dont bother about an 8 the littel extra power is not worth the trouble
it still moves at 330,000,000km... lol woah!!! .. thats like making an old nanna move 50 bags of cement in a few seconds!
Yeah 330,000,000km but i have looked after it alot, but as soon as i got my lsd and gears, been thrashing it lol.. could you guys please answer me the following questions, im just so stressed out at the moment
Which engines have better performance vs v6 ecotec or vr v6?
Which place is best to take it to the install me a engine and trans? how much all up ,incl labour and parts
Can i make more damage to my car if i run it in gears instead of leaving it in drive?
How would i know if the engine is in good condition, and has done the allocated kms on it?
To give you a basic idea on pricing mate i recently recenetly replaced my engine in my vu (ecotec v6) with a brand enw engine from southcott motors ($2200) + had the engine installed along with a new clutch for $800 from BTP Automotive but i removed the previous engine myself. I also paid for the bits and pieces like oil gaskets hoses etc too. All up i spent around $3700. Car runs faultless and im very happy with the job done. You get what you pay for.
Dragging at 190kms? *sigh.
Don't put an 8 in or as stated above you'll probably kill yourself.
From previous Experiences a well looked after Buick 3800 will flog any Ecotec 9/10 times.
Try Egay or something like that, you can pick a Motor up for cheeeep as chips.
Down low power Buick, Up High Ecotec

lol thanks guys, you see i wana get a second hand vr engine? but how would i know if its in good condition or not? i dont wana get one and then it blows up on me a year later
Some wreckers will let you view the motor running before it's removed, Some egay adds will specify aswell. Someone else might be able to clarify the tell tale signs.
Most wreckers will give you a better more trustworthy guarantee if you get them to fit the motor you buy from them.....so, about $400 for the motor, $300 to fit, $120 for oils and coolant plus the all important environmental waste charge (rags). Expect a 3 month warranty this way, but if it blows and they suspect you've been dragging or whatever then any warranty, even if issued by Lady Flo will be null and void.
Good Luck.
thanks guys, igot this guy selling a vr engine for 700 bu xwith 30,000 km wtf???
No matter what engine you put in, if you flog the guts out of it, it will blow up just like the original. Even racing teams have experts who constantly look after the engines etc, so your new engine won't last long if you don't do the same. Maintenance is paramount!
You do know you'll probley soon blow that 30,000km engine...going from nan driving it once a month to your average 5000rpm driving style. When you find another engine I hope you learn your lesson & look after it. My VT V6 Ecotec engine has had probley one of the hardest lives an engine could have but its always had & oil & filter change every 5000km with Castrol Magnatec 15/40 & Motorcraft (genuine Ford) oil filter. What ever needs doing on it gets done like plugs & leads, oil leaks etc etc. If you flog it & keep going with that "I didnt have much oil" attitude of yours, you'll be going threw engines like undies.
Dont be soft, played around with 6`s, and spent way too much coin on them. Buick is better, but a bent holden 8 with forced induction.... OK, maybe you would kill yourself. ahahahaha
what are the secrets to look out for when im looking for a new engine, like engine rattling and smoke out of exhaust ?? and i promise when i do get a new engine ill look after it, i have learnt my lesson now??? i live in williamstown ,wheres a good wreckers to go 2, while i put a second hand engine in i want to put extractors in and maybe cam ahahah..possible to get good second hand ones??
this thread is a joke mate, 333,000,000 (your dreaming), maybe you should buy a push bike instead, less chance of you killing yourself or a family. Dragging at 190km/hr (almost double the speed limit) is foolish & i highly doubt a standard VR V6 would be capable of that sort of speed strongly, let alone safely.
Now to the business end, i may have a motor for you! 94 Buick V6, 209,000km, make an offer
Life starts at 200km/h
lol i know its stupid, i wont do it again, but pm me and ill buy it off you
LOL 330,000,000km
Thats 19,411,764km per year, which is 53182km per day, so if you drove 24 hours a day you were traveling at 2215km/h. Before you throw out you old engine, can you please give it to me to rebuild. I would like to go that fast.
